River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash®
Save the Date for Trash Bash 2021
Every year, thousands of volunteers gather to clean up trash and debris along area waterways by participating in the largest, single-day waterway cleanup in Texas, the River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash®. To protect volunteers and their families, Trash Bash will be going virtual in 2021. Learn how to get involved in the re-imagined event March 25-28, 2021. Trash Bash hopes to return normally in 2022.
What is Trash Bash®? This video recognizing Trash Bash®'s 2018 Texas Environmental Excellence Award illustrates the mission of the event. Over 26 years, 113,711 volunteers have cleaned 1,758 miles of shoreline, gathering 2,331 tons of trash and 11,578 tires.
With locations across the Galveston Bay watershed, there's a cleanup location near home, work, or school. An educational area offers opportunities to learn more about protecting water quality. Participating in Trash Bash® is free, with supplies, t-shirts, lunch, and door prizes provided. Scouts and students are encouraged to participate.

Texas Watershed Steward Course
The Texas Watershed Steward (TWS) program was initiated to provide science-based, watershed education to help citizens identify and take action to address local water quality impairments. Texas Watershed Stewards learn about the nature and function of watersheds, potential impairments, and strategies for watershed protection. The TWS program is implemented through a partnership between The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB). Free, in-person Texas Watershed Steward workshops are delivered statewide in addition to an online version of the course. To view more information about Texas Watershed Stewards, including program information, upcoming workshops, online course access, downloadable course materials, and contact information, visit TWS.tamu.edu. |
