Texas General Land Office Funding Opportunities Workshops
Wednesday March 24 and 31, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Texas General Land Office's Coastal Management Program (CMP) and Coastal Erosion Planning and Response Act (CEPRA) will host joint workshops to provide information on their funding programs, debut the new online application portal, and allow potential applicants to discuss project ideas with staff.

Bringing Back Main Street Roundtable (online)
Tuesday April 27, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
H-GAC's next Bringing Back Main Street Roundtable topic is Designing Accessible Downtowns and will include guidance and examples of how small towns and downtown organizations can integrate accessibility considerations in to their work. To recognize Fair Housing Month in April, speakers will also discuss fair housing and reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. To learn more about presenters and a Share and Tell option to share your community's experiences, visit the program website.
Registration is required. H-GAC host quarterly roundtables to help local governments, chambers of commerce, and economic development interests promote the economic revitalization of downtown areas.

Texas Citizen Planner Training Now Available Online
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is now offering a Texas Citizen Planner Training online. Instruction by planners, researchers, and other leaders from across Texas will provide local officials with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about community choices Texas Citizen Planner provides a broad-based planning curriculum focusing on issues important to Texas communities. Participants may begin with a multi-class Planning Foundations course that covers legal authority, policy tools, and best practices. Specialty knowledge tracks covering flood mitigation, stormwater management, and plan integration are also offered.

The Texas General Land Office held 2 online workshops in early 2021 to share the upcoming Clean Coast Texas program, an initiative of the Texas Coastal Nonpoint Source Pollution Program. The initiative helps communities reduce pollution and enhance water quality along the Texas Coast as part of the Texas Coastal Resiliency Master Plan. Recordings of the workshops are available on YouTube.

River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash®
Save the Date for Trash Bash 2021
Every year, thousands of volunteers gather to clean up trash and debris along area waterways by participating in the largest, single-day waterway cleanup in Texas, the River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash®. To protect volunteers and their families, Trash Bash will be going virtual in 2021. Learn how to get involved in the re-imagined event March 25-28, 2021. Trash Bash hopes to return normally in 2022.
What is Trash Bash®? This video recognizing Trash Bash®'s 2018 Texas Environmental Excellence Award illustrates the mission of the event. Over 26 years, 113,711 volunteers have cleaned 1,758 miles of shoreline, gathering 2,331 tons of trash and 11,578 tires.
With locations across the Galveston Bay watershed, there's a cleanup location near home, work, or school. An educational area offers opportunities to learn more about protecting water quality. Participating in Trash Bash® is free, with supplies, t-shirts, lunch, and door prizes provided. Scouts and students are encouraged to participate.

Texas Watershed Steward Course
The Texas Watershed Steward (TWS) program was initiated to provide science-based, watershed education to help citizens identify and take action to address local water quality impairments. Texas Watershed Stewards learn about the nature and function of watersheds, potential impairments, and strategies for watershed protection. The TWS program is implemented through a partnership between The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB). Free, in-person Texas Watershed Steward workshops are delivered statewide in addition to an online version of the course.
